Encode Totem Styler

What barrel size should I buy?

Larger barrels create soft, loose curls whilst a narrower barrel creates more distinct spiral curls.

Why is a mini flipper better than a traditional flipper?

Using a flipper will give a more distinct tight curl but sometimes traditional flippers that are the same length as the barrel can be difficult to use and restrict performance by not getting hot enough.

What’s the difference between Titanium and Ceramic?

Ceramic is a non-metallic material that is usually sprayed onto aluminium base plates in thin layers. It provides good heat conductivity properties but ceramic spray can wear over time.

Titanium is a lightweight metal derived from rock. It can also be sprayed onto aluminium or it can be moulded in to solid titanium plates which are then polished. Titanium plates don’t wear like those that are spray-finished and are ultra-smooth to prevent snagging. Titanium plates heat up faster than ceramic, recover quickly from wave to wave and distribute heat more evenly to avoid cold and hot spots.

Why does the size of the barrel matter?

The narrower the barrels are, the more your wave will look like a soft crimp.

Why does the shape of the barrel matter?

A deep ‘V’ shape will give an edgy look, whereas equal size rounded barrels give much softer ‘S’ shaped wave. Look at the end of the barrels when they are closed to see the wave you’ll get.

Extremity Heated Rollers

What size roller should I use?

The width of the roller will determine the size of the curls and root lift. Medium size rollers create tighter glamorous curls and large size rollers provide greater root lift on most hair lengths. Rollers can be used on any hair length as long as your hair can fit around the roller once.

How many rollers will I need?

In order to style your whole head at the same time, you will need around twenty rollers regardless of your hair length. To style just the top hair section of your head to add volume and root lift, you will need around six rollers.

How does the roller finish matter?

This affects how well the roller will grip your hair. Our Extremity Heated Rollers are flocked which is a velvety coating which tends to grip hair better than non-flocked rollers.
